Nintendo sues man for selling his old SNES games in a yard sale

A Wisconsin Man by the name of Michael Hansen agreed to pay Nintendo of America almost $1,200 in restitution to settle a Nintendo lawsuit against him over “devaluing thier franchise”.

Gary sold his entire Super Nintendo collection, which included one Super Nintendo entertainment system, 3 controllers and 15 games for $150.00.

Reddit user BigHardDock had been out all morning garage sale rummaging in hopes to find retro games when he says he “hit the mother load”. The score which included sealed copies of Chrono trigger and EarthBound was so great that he couldn’t help but boast about it on the internet.

The moment Reddit user BigHardDock53 uploaded photos of his score to gloat online, Nintendo trolls sent snitch emails to corporate headquarters, who in return sent an investigation team out to confirm whether or not Michael Hansen in fact sold the system games for the price mentioned.

After Hansen confirmed that they were actually his little brothers games and that he was not aware of the current price, Nintendo told him he may be on the receiving end of some legal action and to find an attorney.

In a first of it’s kind lawsuit in the fifth circuit Court, Nintendo successfully sued Hanson for $1,200 claiming the games were worth a considerably larger sum than what they were sold for, creating two problems.

A spokesperson for nintendo, Harry Goldberg had this to say:

First, if these games are continually sold at a lower amount than they are actually worth, they devalue and damage our brand. We have a reputation to uphold and Gary here is an idiot. For this we are seeking monetary compensation for damages done. Factory sealed copies of earthbound are going for like $10,000. We are taking it easy on him.

Second problem is that he’s not selling the Nintendo game for what it’s actually worth today, he’s not paying accurate taxes and neither is the buyer.

For this they have been turned over to the IRS as well.

How many more people are going to be struck down by Nintendo for not following they’re strict but also generous rules?

The entire Hansen family household had to hand over any and all Nintendo merchandise, which includes their child Michaels Nintendo Switch game collection, posters, calendars, Nintendo power magazines as well as any other Nintendo related merchandise. More updates on this story as they come in.
