A fiery Joe Biden had this to say:
“Recently, CNN released footage of Black Africans being sold into slavery in Libya, many of whom are refugees, escaping conflict and hardships in their home countries. People’s lives are being sold away for as little as $400 dollars a piece. This is 2021. And this is colonial era slavery. TODAY. I’VE had enough. We, as free people, need to act on their behalf and put an end to this atrocity.
This is why we are sending troops over to pressure on Libya to put an end to the slave trade. All those guys from Afghanistan are going somewhere, don’t worry. As a nation that stands for freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, it should be in our country’s interest to take action against slavery in any form; and given our international presence and economic strength we have the power to make a positive impact.”
